Come and take a dip!

We test and treat our swimming pool daily with chlorine. It has three shallow steps that lead down into the pool, 1 metre at its shallowest and 1.5m at its deepest. It’s 6 x 10m, so there’s plenty of room for swimming and playing. We have sun loungers and chairs, and a collection of pool noodles and sinking toys to have fun with.

The pool is heated to 27 degrees, and it’s open for our guests all day until sunset.

It’s open from the beginning of May until the end of September.

Under the barn

We have a lovely big barn, open on one side and in the corner sits our Arabic tent, with comfy sofas and chairs so you can curl up and sit a while. This is where our WIFI is, so that you can catch up online with friends and family and the world if you need to. (Yes, it’s not connected in our gites – we hope that you can take the time to deconnect here, take a pause from your everyday busy schedules and reconnect with yourselves, your loved ones, and the beautiful surroundings.

There is also a cupboard full of books about the local area, our tourist information maps and brochures are here too.

There are lots of lovely things under the barn to play with, a wooden pirate ship, table football and books and board games to borrow. There is a large cupboard full of DVDs for you to borrow if there’s a rainy day too.

Crêpe night

Once a week during high season we host a crepe soirée under the barn.

Venturing out?

Le Rhun is on a quiet lane on the outskirts of Argol.  It’s a 15-minute walk into the village where you’ll find a bakery, two small shops, a bar and a creperie restaurant.   There’s also a super ‘living’ museum of bygone trades which is a must-do, as well as a Breton Games Park which lots of old-fashioned Breton games to try, all explained to you by the friendly guide.

There’s also an electric bike hire station in the village if that’s your thing, and we can advise you on lots of local routes if you fancy a walk or morning jog.

Further afield

If you’re taking the car out, Le Rhun is perfectly placed to access the local beaches and attractions.

We are on a peninsula and are surrounded by some stunning beaches for walking, sunbathing, swimming, surfing, snorkelling and rock pooling.  You can hire a kayak or sand yacht if you fancy something a little more adventurous.  The nearest beach is only 5 minutes away and has a rustic beach bar for a well-deserved beer and plate of moule-frites while you watch the sun set into the sea.

There are lots of museums locally, including subjects such as shipwrecks, military history and rural schooling as well as theme parks, rope courses, climbing instruction, archery, bike hire and a whole load more.  There’s the windmill at nearby Telgruc to explore and that’s without the bigger cities of Brest and Quimper which both warrant a full day to explore.  The Oceanopolis aquarium in Brest is a day in itself!

There are some evening events to enjoy in the Summer – Mardis de Morgat brings music and a carnival atmosphere to the streets of Morgat on a Tuesday evening, the local cider farm (5 minutes away) has a farmers market, food stalls, bar and music concert every Monday, and the unspoilt Breton village of Locronan has a market under the stars every Thursday evening.  You’ll need two weeks to fit it all in!
