Hibou is our cosy cottage for 5 people, with a seaside feel.
Hibou sits in the middle of our courtyard, just steps away from the swimming pool, and the children’s play areas. It has a private patio are with stone built bbq.
It was once the vegetable store and became the residence of the local barn owl for a number of years. When restoration began in 1997 he was persuaded to relocate, but has not ventured very far and even has the gîte named after him – he can often be heard in the evenings and sometimes seen swooping low across the courtyard or perched on the barn roof.

When restoration began in 1997 he was persuaded to relocate, but has not ventured very far and even has the gîte named after him – he can often be heard in the evenings and sometimes seen swooping low across the courtyard or perched on the barn roof.
The door from the farmhouse courtyard opens onto a galley kitchen with gas cooker, washer/dryer, dishwasher, Tassimo coffee machine, fridge-freezer and microwave and well equipped kitchen cupboards.
There is cleaning spray, washing liquid, dishwasher tablets, and a bundle of freshly pressed kitchen linens.
We also leave tea, coffee, milk, sugar, so you can have a nice cup of tea or coffee whilst you unpack.
You’ll even find a refreshing bottle of Breton cider waiting for you in the fridge too!
The shower room and cloakroom with hand basin and wc are to the right of the entrance door.
The open plan living area has a feature wood burner, comfortable sofa and armchairs a TV with French digital channels (TNT) and dining table. French doors lead from the salon onto the patio with two lounger chairs, and a stone-built barbecue and wooden furniture for dinners alfresco.
The salon has a sofa and two armchairs, a wood burning stove with stone chimney, and a TV and DVD player.
We have wooden cabin-style stairs that lead from the salon up to the two bedrooms looking out onto the pool, sandpit and swings – one with a sumptuous double bed and an additional single bed and one with two single beds, and a pull out wooden tray full of toys and books.

50% refund up to 14 days before arrival
Check-in: 4 pm
You are very welcome to arrive any time from 4pm. We live and work on site so if you need a late arrival that’s no problem. Let us know what time you expect to arrive and we will put the lights on for you.
We are sorry that we can not offer early check-ins. We spend the whole day deep cleaning and preparing your gite, the swimming pool and our grounds so that everything is perfect for your arrival (we want Le Rhun to look its best!).
Check-out: 10 am
Guests are requested to vacate their gite by 10.00am on the day of departure, to give us time to clean the gîte before our next guests arrive.
Before you check out, please would you
~ strip the linen from the beds and leave it all in the bathroom
~ empty the bins and compost bins
~ make sure you have washed up and put things back where you found them.
It really helps us especially if all the toys and books are put back!
~ If you have used the wood burning stove or bbq has been used, please clean out the ashes and the bbq rack for the next guests. (There is a metal ash bucket and spade in the wood store for this purpose. Ashes can be put in our large black compost bin.)
An end of holiday cleaning service is available for guests who have an early departure and would like to leave the breakfast dishes and last minute cleaning to us.
If you have not already selected this when you made the booking, please book this by Thursday of the week of your stay. This is to be paid in cash before your departure. Cleaning fee: Ecurie €40, Hibou €40, Etable €50, Chestnut Loft €50, Farmhouse €60.
Children/infants: allowed (and encouraged – we are very family friendly)
Pets: not allowed – we love animals but our gardens are not enclosed so we cannot guarantee the comfort and safety of all our guests if we allow pets.
Parties and events: not allowed – we are very happy to host your party or event if you book all of Le Rhun, but if you book one gite we don’t allow late night parties to ensure the comfort of all our guests.
Smoking inside: not allowed
All our gîtes, the pool area and the children’s play areas are designated no smoking areas. We respectfully request smokers to dispose of cigarette butts thoughtfully and not to put them in gîte kitchen bins. If you need us to supply you with an exterior ashtray, please ask.
